The study says there's a significant North/South divide in the UK with people in the South laughing for a solid 400 minutes more a year than in the North of the UK.
However, having dug a bit deeper I found that 3Gem conducted separate research in May 2020 on 2,000 British adults.
This research found that 71% of Brits perceived people born in the north of England to be funnier than those in the South.
I wasn't sure at first what this proves - as Homer Simpson said, "You can come up with statistics to prove anything. Forty percent of all people know that.” Other than that apart from people in Carlisle, northerners are funnier but more discerning. While Carlisle (apart from on a Friday night when in my experience it's really quite scary), is an absolute blast!
Then again maybe there is something in it. Rightmove did a survey of 25,000 people in 2012. Guess which city was Britain's happiest? Carlisle again... (cue Twilight Zone music) #research #
